SEGUNDO - GRADO EN NÁUTICA Y TRANSPORTE MARÍTIMO

Course 149272201 / 149282201 – Inglés Técnico Marítimo [Maritime Technical English] is designed to introduce students to the language of the sea and navigation, providing them with the tools to access specialized technical English. The course aims to help students understand maritime texts and lectures while also preparing them for future success in the maritime industry.

While some students may already have a C1-C2 level of proficiency according to the CEFRL, the minimum requirement for this course is a B1+ (Independent User) level. This means that students should:

• Have a sufficient command of the language to describe common situations and present the main points of an idea or describe events in a simple manner.
• Be able to understand general texts that express ideas in a straightforward way and write personal letters that describe events, desires, and feelings.
• Be capable of producing longer, continuous pieces of writing with factual information or descriptions of simple events.
• Understand longer stretches of speech and more complex messages in familiar contexts.

It is important to note that being a native or near-native speaker of English does not automatically equate to being proficient in academic or technical English. The latter requires familiarity with specific patterns and expressions that must be learned and practiced.
